Sports Medicine Center

What we do

Established on July 1, 2009, as an independent specialized department from conventional orthopedics, the Department of Sports Medicine specializes in diagnosing and treating athletic, recreational, and occupational musculoskeletal conditions.

Whether you are an elite professional athlete, a weekend warrior, or someone experiencing work-related joint issues, our department provides comprehensive, tailored care to help you return to peak performance.

Features of Our Care & Clinical Philosophy

1. Conservative First & Specialized Exercise Therapy

We prioritize non-surgical management whenever possible. Serving as the clinical arm of the Kameda Sports Medical Science Center, we collaborate closely with sports rehabilitation therapists and health promotion specialists to deliver evidence-based exercise therapy, functional rehabilitation, and targeted pharmacotherapy.

2. Advanced Minimally Invasive Arthroscopic Surgery

When structural joint damage occurs, our fellowship-trained surgeons perform ultra-minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery on the shoulder, knee, elbow, ankle, and hip joints:

  • Micro-Incision Technique: Performed through tiny incisions (5 mm to 1 cm) using high-definition surgical cameras
  • Rapid Recovery: Minimizes tissue trauma, preserves postoperative muscle strength, prevents joint stiffness, and accelerates return-to-sport timelines.
  • Biological & Regenerative Therapies: Active integration of cutting-edge joint preservation procedures, including Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation (ACI) and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy.

3. Comprehensive Multidisciplinary Support

Athletes often face complex non-orthopedic health challenges. We maintain seamless referral networks with sports-knowledgeable specialists across various departments—a rare capability offered by only a few medical centers nationwide.

Clinical Evaluation & Team Physician Expertise
  • Professional Sports Affiliations: Our sports medicine physicians serve as team doctors for professional sports teams and care for high-profile professional athletes.
  • Comprehensive Assessment & On-Site Diagnostics: Every evaluation includes a thorough physical exam, on-site digital X-rays, and prompt scheduling for advanced high-resolution MRI or CT imaging.
  • Goal-Oriented Treatment Plans: We design personalized recovery pathways—whether conservative physical therapy or surgical intervention—aligned specifically with your athletic and lifestyle goals.

Consultation Hours & Satellite Care

To accommodate students and working professionals, our department offers afternoon consultation hours designed for easy visits "after school" or "after work":
  • Kameda Clinic (Kamogawa): Afternoon consultations available Monday through Friday.
Outpatient Appointment Center: +81-4-7099-1111
  • Kameda Kyobashi Clinic (Tokyo): Outpatient sports medicine consultations available in central Tokyo (directly connected to Tokyo Metro Ginza Line Kyobashi Station).
