The Kameda Breast Center is a world-renowned "Comprehensive Breast Center" offering a complete continuum of care—from screening and precision imaging diagnostics to advanced surgical resection, oncoplastic reconstruction, systemic drug therapies, and long-term survivorship support.
Our center is led by Dr. Eisuke Fukuma (Chief Director), an international pioneer who initiated the world’s first endoscopic breast surgery 29 years ago. We are supported by world-leading breast pathologists and subspecialist breast radiologists working in daily seamless collaboration with our breast surgical team.
Pioneer Technologies & Advanced Innovations
- Endoscopic & Oncoplastic Surgery: Spearheaded by Dr. Fukuma, our minimal-incision endoscopic techniques achieve identical oncological curability to traditional open surgeries while maintaining superior cosmetic outcomes and ultra-low local recurrence rates.
- Robot-Assisted Nipple-Sparing Mastectomy (R-NSM): In April 2022, our team performed Japan’s first robot-assisted breast surgery. Utilizing a single 3.5–4.0 cm incision placed discreetly below the axilla (hidden by undergarments), complete breast tissue removal and immediate implant reconstruction are achieved through a single incision.
- Non-Surgical Cryoablation (Non-Excisional Freezing Therapy): Over 18 years, we have treated over 600 early-stage breast cancer cases using targeted cryoablation. Performed as a same-day outpatient procedure under local anesthesia, it delivers local control equivalent to breast-conserving surgery with zero surgical scarring. (If sentinel lymph node biopsy is required, a 3-day/2-night stay is arranged).
- Lymphedema Surgery & Upper Limb Care: Specialist plastic surgeons within our department provide comprehensive diagnostic mapping, micro-lymphatic super-microsurgery (LVA), and conservative therapy for post-mastectomy upper limb lymphedema.
Specialized Outpatient Clinics & Clinical Programs
- Oncoplastic Breast Surgery & Reconstruction (Oncoplastic Surgery): Collaborative reconstructive surgery performed by experienced in-house plastic surgeons and oncoplastic surgeons, including autologous fat grafting and stem cell-enhanced techniques.
- Regenerative Medicine Breast Reconstruction: Cutting-edge reconstruction options utilizing adipose-derived stem cell-enriched fat grafting (Cellution System) and cultured stem cell therapies following breast-conserving or total mastectomy procedures.
- Oncofertility / Fertility Preservation: Pre-treatment reproductive counseling and fertility preservation pathways for young cancer or autoimmune patients before initiating chemotherapy/radiotherapy.
- Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer (HBOC) Clinic: Genetic counseling and testing for patients with inherited genetic predispositions (approx. 5–10% of breast cancer diagnoses).
- Post-Augmentation Mammography & Breast Screening: Specialized breast cancer screening and evaluations tailored for women with previous cosmetic breast augmentations or implants.
- Second Opinion Consultations: Outpatient second opinions regarding systemic therapy, chemotherapy, and surgical strategies (conducted every Thursday at the Breast Tumor Outpatient Clinic).
