Patients with Japanese National Health Insurance

Kameda Medical Center operates as a specialized medical institution in accordance with the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare’s policy of assigning tasks of hospitals and clinics.

Our institution requires referrals from other healthcare organizations (primary care doctors’, neighboring hospitals, or clinics) for consultations. We required first-visit patients to bring a letter of referral.

Depending on clinical departments and medical conditions, you may be able to get a consultation without a referral letter, but in accordance with the Health and Welfare Ministry Law enacted April 1, 1996, Kameda Medical Center asks patients without a letter of referral to pay for First-Visit Consultation Fee in addition to the regular cost of treatment.

Please note that we will prioritize patients with referral letters to cooperate with medical institutions with our local community. In this respect, you may wait for a long period of time for consultation.

Patients who have challenges handling a medical consultation in Japanese.

The first alternative for these types of patients is to be accompanied by someone who can serve as their interpreter during all their outpatient consultations. Patients are personally responsible for arranging for their interpreter, who must be 20 years of age or older and capable of translating medical terms.

Video Interpretation Service

Another alternative is to use the “free of charge” multilingual translation service using a tablet. An online interpreter will support your consultation. For additional details, please ask our staff at Kameda Clinic.
