Orthopedics

What we do

To keep pace with rapidly advancing medical technologies and deliver the highest standard of care, the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Kameda Medical Center is subspecialized by anatomical regions, tissues, and disease types.

Rather than relying solely on general orthopedic care, our department brings together fellowship-trained subspecialists across 5 core clinical divisions to provide precise, state-of-the-art medical and surgical treatments.

Specialized Clinical Divisions & Lead Specialists

1. Bone & Soft Tissue Tumor Division
  • Lead Specialist: Dr. Hiroshi Kuroda
Clinical Scope: Diagnosis and surgical treatment of benign and malignant tumors arising in bones, muscles, nerves, adipose tissues, and blood vessels. We welcome patients seeking expert second opinions for suspected or diagnosed bone and soft tissue neoplasms.

2. Lower Extremity & Joint Reconstruction Division
  • Lead Specialists: Dr. Hideo Eguro & Dr. Kosuke Kubo
Clinical Scope: Comprehensive care for hip and knee joint disorders (e.g., osteoarthritis, joint degeneration). Designed for individuals suffering from hip/knee pain that limits daily mobility, walking, shopping, or travel.

3. Orthopedic Trauma & Fracture Division
  • Lead Specialists: Dr. Tomokazu Nakatani, Dr. Takashi Kameoka & Dr. Akito Tokumo
Clinical Scope: High-energy trauma (traffic accidents) and acute fractures, dislocations, or sprains from sports and daily falls. Specialist intervention significantly improves long-term functional recovery, particularly for complex fractures or cases with persistent symptoms after previous surgeries elsewhere.

4. Spine & Spinal Cord Division
  • Lead Specialist: Dr. Yasuo Kanamori
Clinical Scope: Specialized care for disorders spanning the cervical spine (neck) to the lumbar spine and pelvis. We offer comprehensive options from conservative therapies (block injections) to advanced Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS) using spinal endoscopes.

5. Hand Surgery & Microsurgery Center
  • Center Director: Dr. Hayato Kuno
Clinical Focus: Comprehensive evaluation and delicate surgical reconstruction of all diseases and injuries affecting the upper extremities—from below the shoulder to the fingertips ("the second brain").

Key Services & Advanced Procedures

Degenerative & Inflammatory Disorders: Tendonitis, Trigger Finger, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Thumb Basal (CM) Joint Arthritis, and finger deformities (Heberden’s & Bouchard’s nodes).

Complex Upper Limb Trauma: Distal radius wrist fractures, scaphoid fractures, elbow fractures/dislocations, and ligament tears.

Microsurgical Replantation & Reconstruction: Reattachment of amputated fingers/digits, microvascular nerve and vessel repair, autologous tissue transplantation, and treatment for severe post-traumatic limb complications (intractable non-union fractures, nerve paralysis, and severe soft tissue loss).
