Rheumatology
What we do
"Collagen disease" is a collective term for conditions caused by immune system dysregulation, where the body's natural defense mechanism mistakenly attacks its own healthy tissues (autoimmune response).
Because collagen fibers and connective tissues exist throughout the human body, these conditions; also referred to as Connective Tissue Diseases, Rheumatic Diseases, or Autoimmune Diseases; can affect multiple organs simultaneously, including joints, skin, lungs, kidneys, and eyes.
Key Clinical Focus & Departmental Strengths
Multidisciplinary Collaborative Care: Seamless inter-departmental collaboration with Pulmonology, Nephrology, Dermatology, and Ophthalmology to manage organ-specific complications.
Orthopedic & Rehabilitation Integration: Close partnership with Orthopedic Surgery for custom insoles/orthoses and surgical joint interventions, alongside ongoing support from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine (5th floor) to maintain mobility and Quality of Life.
