Inpatient Guide for International & Self-Pay Patients
Inpatient Guide for International & Self-Pay Patients
Kameda Medical Center provides comprehensive, end-to-end support for patients using overseas private medical insurance (with GOP) or paying out-of-pocket as self-pay patients—from pre-admission consultation through post-discharge follow-up.
This page serves as your portal to all inpatient information for international and self-pay patients. Please explore the sections below based on your needs.
For patients covered by Japanese public health insurance (National Health Insurance, Employees' Health Insurance, etc.), please refer to the separate "Inpatient Guide for Japanese Health Insurance Holders",
Admission Requirements & Pre-Arrival Consultation
Before you arrive
- For many treatments, an online or in-person consultation before admission is required so that our physicians can confirm whether the treatment is appropriate and can be safely provided at Kameda Medical Center.
- A referral letter and previous medical records / test results (with an English summary if possible) help us assess your case accurately.
- Based on this review, we will provide an estimated treatment plan, length of stay, and cost.

First Steps
On the Day of Admission
On arrival, please come to the International Patient Lounge (Kameda Clinic, 1F). Your International Patient Service Advocate will greet you, complete your admission paperwork and identity/insurance verification, and then escort you to your room.
Two Payment Pathways
| ① Self-Pay (out-of-pocket) | A deposit is arranged before admission based on estimated treatment and length of stay. Final settlement is made on discharge. |
| ② Overseas Insurance (Direct Billing) | A valid Guarantee of Payment (GOP) must reach us before admission. If the GOP is delayed/incomplete or treatment is not fully covered, you will pay upfront as a self-pay patient and claim reimbursement later. |
